Pain
I have heard a lot of you talk about having pain in different places mainly calves, shins or knees. Understanding how you body works is critical, especially if you are beginning a new activity like running.

Locally, I would recommend going to Fleetfeet and have them help you.

If you are a "do it yourself-er", below is a link that will help.

If you are having pain, do your homework and take care of your body. You will be amazed how your performance will change.
Thanks,
David

Update and Dinner
Good Afternoon Healthy People,
Hope all is well. I hear the group was a success this past weekend. That's great. Thank you to all who attended.
We are really looking for to getting back with the group this week.
One of our runners, Krista, ran in the Chicago Half Marathon this past Sunday, Congratulations! She said it was a great race. She set her Personal Record. Give her a big pat on the back for a great job.
I am sure after all those training miles and running the half, she will be ready to get up and run with us Saturday morning. ;)
NVBC runners group will be meeting this Saturday morning, same time and place.
Has anyone put any races or upcoming events on their calendar? Does anyone need any help with anything?
Questions are welcome.
This is a pretty good article on dinners that look pretty easy and delicious.

Has anyone thought about using a heart monitor for there run? Do you use a heart monitor when you run? Thoughts?
When training with specific goals, I use a heart monitor because it helps me understand what my body is doing when put under specific strain. When I am running for maintenance, I take the monitor off and in a lot of cases leave the watch at home. For me, running with no watch can be a freeing experience.

Latest News
Great news! Our first run together was a huge success. We had a great turn out and everyone did awesome on their run. We did the portion of the greenway from the G. Bragg trail-head to Thompson Lane trail-head. It is so exciting to think about what the future holds for this group.
We even managed to avoid getting stuck in the Run Chicken Run run. Look out next year chickens, here comes the N.V.B.C. run group. Woohoo!
I really like to read articles all things running and nutrition. Enclosed is a pretty interesting one.

This website has been very informative in the past and might answer some questions you have.

From beginner to marathoner, there is always room for improvement.
Remember: Don't be afraid to try, be afraid Not to try! You never know what will happen.
God Bless You,
David

The New Vision Running Group will be running this Saturday morning at 6:30 am from the General Bragg trail head. Byrena and I will be be there around 6.
This Saturday is the Run Chicken Run 10k. They will be parking at Murfreesboro Medical Clinic running from the Gateway Island Park down to Garrison and on over the battlefield and back. There could be some road closures due to this run between around Thompson Lane. You might want to come down Old Nashville Hwy from downtown. I am enclosing the Run Chicken Run race details page for your viewing.

I am including two maps. One showing a route left from G.B. to Thompson Lane, distance approximately 2.78 miles and another route right from G.B. to Cannonsburg, distance is approximately 5.73. Those are total distances, so each of you can use your own discretion. We can get a feel for how what people want to do Saturday morning, or you can email me.

If you are a beginner and have not done anything, you might try doing a two mile walk. Those of you training for the upcoming half marathons and are in need of that 10+ mile run, and are running with us, will need to add mileage accordingly.
Saturday is going to be great, we are looking forward to seeing everyone. If you are unable to make it, don't worry there will be plenty of opportunities.
If you have any questions or comments let us know.
Thanks,
David Kirkham
Hebrews 12:1-2
1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Welcome
Mission/Goal/Purpose: Connecting people together with a common interest; reaching out to those who are not “plugged” in and to those who are thus creating a fellowship of believers through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
We have people within our church family who attend services but are not connected within a group for various reasons. Sometimes, people are intimated at the thought of a “Sunday school class” or even the word “group”. Through this running group, people will learn about other opportunities to connect and serve within our church family! Our running group will challenge people to think about their physical health, giving them an opportunity to set a goal within a community of support. We will learn together how to have self discipline, teaching that only through Jesus can we do or accomplish anything. A visual testimony of the power of having a personal relationship with Jesus!
Runners are going to run! I know from my own experience running has been and is an opportunity to pray or listen to God. Running is a physical testimony for me. So far at every race, I have been overwhelmed with emotions because of what Christ has done for me! I am always grateful and never take for granted that I am able to run; unlike some of the other runners who have physical disabilities. God has given me the ability to move my body physically. There was a season of my life where I was not able to do anything of this nature. I had to surrender to win. I laid down my life as it was and reached out and took the freedom that Christ had so freely and abundantly sacrificed for me. It is my honor, passion and calling to help others experience a relationship with Christ, in any way! I believe running can do that!
